Rocket Words Relaunches Website

New Site and Logo Reflect Company Emphasis on Arts, Design and Service Clients

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 2002) Jerry Karp of Rocket Words is excited to announce the launch of a redesigned Rocket Words website, rocketwords.com. The site resign is only the most visible part of a new company identity for Rocket Words, including a new logo and a new theme: Igniting Reaction. The new messaging package is designed to more effectively communicate with Rocket Words' client groups — artists, musicians and designers, arts and service-related businesses, and arts, music and design-related publications, both print and online.

Through Rocket Words, Karp helps artists, musicians and arts-related businesses increase sales, enhance audience and media awareness of their work, and gain funding for their projects. Rocket Words services include lively and effective web site content, press releases/press kits, grant proposals and marketing materials, as well as well-researched, entertaining articles for music, arts and design-related publications.

Along with information about Rocket Words' services and philosophy, the new site includes helpful articles on writing and a Free Resources page including links to arts, design and business sites. Karp is also launching the Rocket Words Gazette, a bi-monthly electronic newsletter featuring writing and grammar tips and updates on the San Francisco Bay Area arts, music and literary scenes. Past issues of the newsletter will be archived on the website.

A Creative Collaboration Succeeds

The new site and logo were designed by Sabine Messner of Sabine.cc. The project is the successful result of a close three-way collaboration between Karp, Messner and Michelle Lucci, principal of The Seedling Group, a consulting company that helps small businesses, startup companies and independent consultants market themselves effectively. Once all elements were in place, the team brought in Brian Reed of dataWonk to handle technical production.

“I'm sort of sad to see the old site go,” Karp said. “I created it myself, with the Teach Yourself HTML handbook on my lap, and it served me well for two years. But the time had come for a fresh look. I need a site that more fully expresses the dedicated enthusiasm and experience I bring to my work, a design that speaks more directly to the artists, designers, and businesses who are my potential clients. Putting my site in the hands of Sabine, a wonderful branding and design consultant, is the best thing I could have done. And seeing the incredible technical expertise and attention to detail that Brian applied to every single page on the site was equally gratifying. I'm definitely a long way from that handbook now.”

While Karp wrote the copy for the new site himself, the writing and conceptual work were completed under Lucci's steady guidance.

“Michelle helped me to focus my messaging and my message for the site," Karp reported. "You wouldn't think a writer would need help with that, but even for a writer, it's very difficult to write about yourself. But maybe the most important thing Michelle did was to me encourage me to recreate my business to attract artists, musicians, designers and service businesses—the kinds of clients I most love to work with and write about.”
